Following the debates after the final round of Iran’s Professional Premier League of football which riled tempers among Tractorsazi’s fans, the head of IPL refereeing department resigned.

In an official announcement Iran’s Football Federation remitted the referee of the Tractorsazi-Naft match to the football referee committee of Iran to answer questions on unintentional mistakes made on the pitch.

The retired veteran referee Hossein Asgari headed the IPL refereeing department in 2014-2015 season and in a letter was thanked by the head of Iran’s Football Federation.

Iran’s Football Federation has promised thorough investigations over the issue to cool down the anger heated in Tabriz.

Asgari who had already chaired the football referee committee of Iran, was born on January 2, 1952 and initiated his refereeing career in 1972. Officiating many international events, he is now an AFC and FIFA supervisor.
