Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran has dropped one place from 40th to 41st in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

Team Melli is the Asian Football Confederation’s highest place team in the rankings, followed by Japan (50) and the Korea Republic (58).

Germany retains its position as the top ranked nation in the world, with little movement in the top 20 as none of those countries played in the last month.

A total of 44 matches were played in May, bringing the number of international “A” matches played so far in 2015 to 264.

A team’s position in the FIFA rankings is determined by their points over a four-year period. The average of points they have won over the last 12 months is added to the average number of points they have gained over the previous three years, though the weighting of previous results decreases with each passing year.
