Report: Brighton have bid accepted for Celtic and Norwich target Alireza Jahanbakhsh
HITC Sport – NIJMEGEN, The young winger has been in exceptional form for NEC Nijmegen this season, but a summer departure is now looking likely, with Brighton and Hove Albion having a £1.4 million bid accepted, as per the Argus.
Jahanbakhsh has been linked with Norwich (Voetbal International) and Celtic (The Scotsman) this season, and a transfer was all but guaranteed this summer, despite being named NEC player of the year after winning them promotion.
Despite the interest from the Premier League and the SPFL, the 14 capped Iranian international, who appeared at the World Cup with his country, has yet to face any concrete offers from Norwich or Celtic, and Brighton have jumped ahead in the race for his signature.
The Seagulls are looking to increase their attacking output following a poor season in front of goal, and Jahanbakhsh, who is able to play anywhere across the front three, netted 12 goals and registered 18 assists last season in the Jupiler League.
His agent is quoted in the report as saying a deal is ’50-50’ having gone to visit the Amex Stadium, although Jahanbakhsh has yet to travel to Brighton.
This report has likely caused chaos for both Celtic and Norwich, who will now have to move quickly if they intend to have any chance of signing their exciting transfer target.
