Report: Celtic linked winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh rejects chance to move to Brighton
HITC Sport – NIJMEGEN, Alireza Jahanbakhsh has reportedly rejected a move to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Brighton and Hove Albion will not be signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Despite having a bid accepted from the Championship side by his club NEC in the region of £1.2 million, the Iran international has decided against the move, for now.
De Telegraaf reports Jahanbakhsh does not feel England’s second tier is necessarily suited to his style of play, and wants to take a step back and explore his options.
He is content at his current club, waiting for an offer to come in which he is comfortable taking up at the right time, although that could be sooner than his rejection may suggest.
Brighton’s chances not quite dead in the water
De Telegraaf report Brighton wanted a quick answer, and the attacker was not willing to commit so promptly. It adds that he could reconsider in a month’s time, so the Seagulls’ prospects of bringing him in are not necessarily over.
Newspaper de Gelderlander had broken the news earlier this week that Brighton had a bid accepted for the winger, who scored 13 goals and registered 18 assists last season.
Competitors
Celtic were linked with making a move for him this summer, reported The Scotsman, and another club in the mix according to Voetbal International is Premier League new boys Norwich City.
Brighton’s near-swoop for the international will likely have caught the attention of both clubs, and they now have a second chance to make a move on bringing him in.
If the talented Jahanbakhsh does not receive a more tempting offer, he could land up reconsidering Brighton, so now is the time for Celtic or Norwich to act.
