Davari loses battle for number 1 shirt in Bielefeld
Persianfootball.com – BIELEFELD, Iranian goalkeeper Daniel Davari begins the season as number 2 at his new club Arminia Bielefeld in German Bundesliga 2.
This was announced by the coach shortly ahead of Bielefeld’s season opener today, where Davari’s competitor already played in the goalless draw against St. Pauli.
Davari had emerged as number one goalkeeper of Eintracht Braunschweig in second and first Bundesliga before switching to Swiss giants Grasshoppers in summer 2014.
However, at the struggling club, the now 26-year-old lost his starting spot and left for Arminia this summer.
Davari suffered a similar fate with the Iranian national team, where he debuted 2013 and appeared to become the new number one.
But Iran boss Carlos Queiroz opted for Alireza Haghighi as starting goalkeeper at World Cup and after losing his starting spot in Switzerland, Davari was not invited for this year’s Asian Cup as well as the following matches.
