Tehran’s Persepolis held in IPL opening match
Tasnim – TEHRAN, Tehran’s popular football team Persepolis drew 2-2 with Padideh of Mashhad in its opening match of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday evening.
In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Ali Alipour gave Persepolis the lead with a diving header after seven minutes into the match.
Younes Shakeri cancelled the goal in the 15th minute and Hossein Badamaki put the visiting team into the lead two minutes later.
Persepolis put Padideh under pressure soon after and its captain Hadi Norouzi equalized the match with a long-range shot in the 38th minute.
Elsewhere, Foolad came from two-goal deficit to draw Rah Ahan. Malavan of Bandar Anzali edged Zob Ahan of Isfahan and tractor Sazi of Tabriz and Naft played out a goalless draw.
