Queiroz: Iran will not underestimate Guam
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football head coach Carlos Queiroz insisted that his team focused solely on Thursday’s World Cup qualifier against Guam and he respects the opponent despite they are a small country.
“Maybe you think Guam is a small country and we will have an easy match but we should not forget that Guam is currently the table topper in our group. They have earned maximum points from their first two games. It is very disrespectful to underestimate Guam so we respect our opponent,” Queiroz told reporters in the pre-match press conference.
“The players are at the top form and I’m pretty sure we will get a good result against Guam. I would like to ask our fans to come to the stadium to support their national team,” Queiroz added.
On the other side Guam’s English coach Gary White stated that his team is going to surprise Iran on Thursday.
“In the last two games we have surprised India and Turkmenistan and this time we are going to repeat it against Iran. We’re here to take the three points and my players will make every effort to make it happen,” White told reporters.
