Kafashian: Germany interested in playing friendly with Iran
Tehran Times – BERLIN, Iran Football Federation President Ali Kafashian revealed that German Football Association has shown interest in playing a friendly match with Iran.
“I had a very good and positive meeting with Mr. Wolfgang Niersbach, who is the president of the German Football Association. He said that they have good memories of playing against Iran and are interested to play another match,” Kafashian told IRNA.
“We are also eager to play the best team in the world and I hope we can arrange it in the very near future. The match could be held in Iran or Germany as we have no problem to host the German team,” Kafashian added.
Iran lost 2-0 to Die Mannschaft in front of 100,000 fans at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in the only friendly meeting with the World Cup winner in 2004.
The two teams also met in 1998 World Cup in France in which Germany beat Iran 2-0 thanks to the goals from Oliver Bierhoff and Jurgen Klinsmann.
