AFC – KUALA LUMPUR, The Asian Football Confederation has extended its deepest condolences on the passing of Persepolis captain Hadi Norouzi who died at the age 30 on Thursday morning.

The Iranian club’s team manager Mahmoud Khordbin was reported as saying that the national team striker had passed away in his sleep following a heart attack.

The 30-year-old Norouzi, born in Babol in the Mazandaran province, began his senior club career with Pasargad in 2005 before moving to Fajr Sepah Tehran a year later and then on to Damash Iranian in 2007.

In 2008, he transferred to top flight Persepolis where he spent seven years, the biggest portion of his career, that also included a loan stint from 2013 to 2014 at another top flight Naft Tehran.

Norouzi most recently skippered Tehran-based Persepolis to the Round of 16 of the 2015 AFC Champions League and represented his country during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
