Tasnim – TEHRAN, Former head coach of the Iranian national football team and Persepolis football club has reportedly showed green light to take charge of Iran U-23 football team.

On Thursday, Iran Olympic coach Mohammad Khakpour announced his retirement after arriving at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Khakpour led Iran to win the 2015 WAFF U-23 Championship in Qatar on Thursday.

Ghotbi is out of work after assisting Patrick Kluivert at Curacao team for the Caribbean island’s World Cup qualifier against El Salvador.

He has previously held assistant coach roles with the United States and South Korea.

Ghotbi also coached Team Melli and inspired Persepolis football club to win the domestic title.
