IPL: Esteghlal Khuzestan misses chance to go top, Zob Ahan dominate Rah Ahan

Tasnim – TEHRAN, Esteghlal Khuzestan missed a chance to climb above Esteghlal Tehran to the top of Iran Professional League (IPL) when it failed to beat Naft Tehran.

On Saturday, Esteghlal Khuzestan could move top of the IPL table with a win over Naft Tehran but two teams played out a goalless draw in Tehran’s Takhti Stadium.

Elsewhere, titleholder Sepahan drew 1-1 with struggling Esteghlal Ahvaz. Mohammad Reza Khalatbari gave the visiting team a lead in the 25th minute and Farzad Ashoobi equalized the match from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.

Also on Saturday, rock-bottom Foolad lost to Malavan 1-0, Saba defeated Tractor Sazi 2-1, Siah Jamegan was defeated 2-1 against Saipa, Gostaresh Foolad thrashed Padideh 4-1, and Zob Ahan humiliated Rah Ahan 4-0.

Esteghlal remains top of the table with 22 points, two points ahead of Esteghlal Khuzestan.
