Visa farce continues: Alireza Haghighi out of Guam clash

Persianfootball.com – HAGATNA, After already preventing Iran and FSV Frankfurt left-back Ehsan Hajsafi entry to Guam, US authorities have also denied Alireza Haghighi’s visa request.

The Rubin Kazan goalkeeper therefore is set to miss the World Cup qualifier on the tiny island next Tuesday as well.

While Iran captain Andranik Teymourian’s visa also hasn’t been issued yet, three further starters, Jalal Hosseini, Vouria Ghafouri and Sardar Azmoun will miss the clash due to injuries.

No official comment by the Iranian or Guamese football federation has been given yet. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA have also not shown any reaction so far.

Last week, Saudi Arabia had informed AFC and FIFA that they would refuse to travel to Palestine for their World Cup qualifier, due to not wanting to cope with Israeli authorities. FIFA then moved the tie to neutral ground.
