Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran coach Carlos Queiroz said they should have scored eight goals against Turkmenistan.

On Thursday, Team Melli defeated Turkmenistan 3-1 in Group D of the Asia World Cup 2018 Qualifying and topped the table on goal difference.

“First of all, I congratulate my players because of their performance. They played at an international level from the first minute until the end of the match,” Queiroz said in the post-match news conference.

“I respect Turkmenistan but I believe that we should have scored six or eight goal against the team. Turkmenistan was very well organized and disciplined,” the Portuguese coach added.

Iran’s next match is away to Guam on Tuesday while five of its players are without visas to enter the country.

“We will play Guam without our five players but we have a group of players who are ready to fight for their country,” former Real Madrid coach said.
