We Know Qatar Very Well: Iran’s Coach Khakpour

Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran coach Mohammad Khakpour says that they are ready to face Qatar in Group A of the AFC U-23 Championship.

Iran will face host Qatar on Friday at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

“To win against Syria was very important for us since the first match is the most important match in any tournament,” Khakpour said.

“Qatar also showed its strength by coming from 1-0 behind to beat China 3-1. The team has many key players who know how to play against their rivals. I’ve studied Qatar and we know how to play against them,” the former Iran defender said.

“I expect a spectacular match between the two teams. The match will bring so many spectators together in the stadium,” Khakpour said.

“China and Syria have lost their first matches but I believe that they deserve full credit for the way that they play and have still a chance to advance to the next stage,” he concluded
