Tehran Times – DOHA, Former Iranian international Javad Nekounam is set to sign a four-month contract with Qatari side Al-Arabi after a 6-month spell with Saipa.

Nekounam, who joined Saipa from Osasuna in July 2015, scored three times in 18 appearances for the team.

The 35-year old midfielder will be the second Iranian player to be added to Al-Arabi squad after Ashkan Dejagah, who joined the club in July 2014 after two years spell in Fulham.

Al-Arabi is currently in 6th place of Qatar Stars League with 23 points from 15 games under Italian coach Gianfranco Zola.

Nekounam who bid farewell to international games in March 2015 is the Iranian most capped player, scoring 39 goals in 151 games.
