Persepolis and Team Melli legend Homayoun Behzadi laid to rest
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football team and Persepolis striker Homayoun Behzadi was laid to rest on Monday.
Family and friends gathered in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery to say their final goodbyes to the legend.
The funeral was attended by several officials, including Iranian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mahmoud Goudarzi, former Iran and Persepolis coach Ali Parvi, world’s all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international matches Ali Daei and Bayern Munich and Persepolis midfielder Ali Karimi.
Behzadi started his playing career at Shahin in 1958 and joined Paykan after seven years.
In 1968, Behzadi joined Persepolis and announced his retirement in Tehran based club in 1975.
Behzadi was named as one of the members of Persepolis Hall of Fame and the club thanked him for his great performance during his senior career at the popular club.
He was named as one of the twelve great players of Persepolis in the 1970s.
Behzadi won the Asian Nations Cup with Iran football team in 1968 and 1972.
He won 35 caps for Team Iran and scored 13 goals.
