Loading...Tehran Times – TASHKENT, Iran futsal coach believes that despite Japan and Thailand progress in Asian futsal, his team is the favorite to win the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship.
Iran has been drawn in Group B of the tournament alongside Iraq, China and Jordan. The Persians will take on Jordan in the first step on February 10th.
“My players are confident ahead of the competition and they are well-prepared to win the title. We have a lot of talented players inside the country and that’s the reason behind our success winning the Asian championship 10 times but the situation has been changed during the last couple of years. Countries like Japan and Thailand have progressed a lot by hiring top coaches,” Nazemosharia told IRINN.
“If we win our games, we will most likely face Japan in the semi-final while Thailand could be in the final four,” Nazemosharia added.
The 2016 AFC Futsal Championship will be the 14th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship and will be held in Uzbekistan from February 10 to 21. A total of 16 teams will play in the tournament.
The tournament acts as the AFC qualifiers for the World Cup. The top five teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia as the AFC representatives.
