IPL: Persepolis edges past Foolad, Esteghlal Khuzestan draws Tractor Sazi [VIDEO]

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Persepolis football team edged past Foolad in the 20th week of Iran Professional League (IPL) in front of more than 70,000 fans at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Friday.
Mehdi Taremi scored the sole goal of the match in the 13th minute with a wonderful header assisted by Mohammad Ansari.
Persepolis climbed to third above Saipa and Zob Ahan.
Elsewhere, Esteghlal Khouzestan was held to a 1-1 draw by Tractor Sazi at home. Ali Asghar Ashouri put the home side in front in the 15th minute from the penalty spot but Mohammad Iranpourian levelled the score in the 83rd minute from the penalty spot.
Sepahan suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against Saipa. Milad Meydavoudi and Ali Zeynali scored for Saipa in the 59th and 77th minutes respectively before Luciano Pereira reduces the deficit in the 92nd minute.
In Mashhad, Saba played out a goalless draw against Padideh.
This week’s competitions will continue on Saturday with three games. Rah Ahan will host Siah Jamegan, Gostaresh Foolad meet Malavan and Zob Ahan face struggling Esteghlal Ahvaz.
