PressTV – TEHRAN, Female Iranian futsal player Fereshteh Karimi has been shortlisted for the title of the Best Woman Player of the World, thanks to her astounding display of skills at the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Futsal Championship in Malaysia.

The 26-year-old, who currently plays for Daneshgah Azad club, has to vie for the top honor with Brazil’s Amanda Lyssa de Oliveira Crisostomo, Portugese Ana Patricia Abreu Azevedo, Brazilian Luciléia Renner Minuzzo and Carolina Augusta da Silva.

Daniela Sofia da Costa Ferreira from Portugal, Russian player Aleksandra Samorodova, Brazil’s Tatiane Debiasi Croceta and Vanessa Cristina Pereira together with Spanish futsal player Vanessa Sotelo Quintela are the other contender in the list.

Additionally, Iran’s goalkeeper Farzaneh Tavasoli has been nominated for Best Women Goalkeeper of the World.

The other nominees are Ana Catarina Silva Pereira from Portugal, Spain’s Belén De Uña Marzo, Italian Gabriella Gonçalves “Gabi” Tardelli, Russian athlete Anastasia Ivanova, Joziane de Oliveira and Missiara Luiza Papst from Brazil, Colombia’s Karen Julieth Murillo Rey and Spanish sportswoman Vanessa Barberá Martínez.

On September 26, 2015, Iran women’s national futsal team lifted the trophy at the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Futsal Championship in Malaysia following a victory over the Japanese side.

The Iranian sportswomen played good defense against the offensive Japanese team in a match played at the Nilai Indoor Stadium in the western Malaysian city of Nilai, preventing the Samurais to score.

It was in the eighth minute when Fereshteh Karimi seized a marvelous chance and scored the winner for the Iranians.

The 2015 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship started in Nilai, Malaysia, on September 21 and wrapped up on September 26.
