Iran Professional League: Persepolis moves to third
Tasnim – TEHRAN, Persepolis football team defeated Foolad 1-0 to move to third place in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday.
In front of about 70,000 spectators in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Mehdi Taremi found the back the net with a header in the 13th minute.
Soon after, the Reds created several chances but wasted their opportunities.
Elsewhere, Esteghlal Khuzestan missed the chance to go back to the top of the IPL table after being held against Tractor Sazi 1-1.
Ali Asghar Ashouri gave Esteghlal Khuzestan a lead from the penalty spot in the 15th minute but with eight minutes remaining Mohammad Iranpourian equalized the match from the spot.
Sepahan lost at home to Saipa 2-1. Mohammad Reza Khalatbari missed a penalty in the 54th minute.
Five minutes later, Milad Meydavoudi opened the scoring for the visiting team and Ali Zeynali extended the lead in the 77th minute.
Sepahan Brazilian striker Luciano Pereira reduced the deficit in the dying moments of the match.
Padideh fought out a 0-0 draw with Saba in Mashhad.
