Tehran Times – QESHM, Iran has won the second edition of Artists’ Football World Cup title after a 1-0 win over Romania in the final match at Qeshm’s Takhti Stadium on Friday.

The tournament’s top goal scorer Mehdi Salehpour scored the sole goal of the game for Iran in the 15th minute.

Former Iranian referee Mohammad Fanaei, who was an assistant referee for the final of the 1994 FIFA World Cup between Brazil and Italy, officiated the game.

Germany, Sweden, Romania, Japan, Hungry, Azerbaijan, Greece, Turkey and host Iran were the teams took part in the second edition of Artists’ Football World Cup.

The games were played in two 20-minute periods while each team contained seven players.

In the last year’s tournament, Romania won the title after beating Iran at the final.
