Tehran Times – ROSTOV, Iranian international striker Sardar Azmoun, who has scored three goals in the last two games for his country, would like to face Saudi Arabia in the third round of 2018 World Cup qualification in Asia.

“We were confident that we’ll take the six points in the two remaining games against India and Oman. Fortunately I scored three goals and we advanced as the group winner,” Azmoun said.

“I would like to face Saudi Arabia in the third round because we have a big motivation to play against them. But at the end we aim to qualify for the World Cup and it doesn’t matter which team we will face,” he added.

Azmoun then talked about his conditions at FC Rostov and his future at the club.

“We are at the top of Russian Premier League and I hope we could win the title this season.
People have named us as the Russian Leicester City, I hope we keep it up and surprise everyone by winning the title. If Leicester can do it, so can we,” Azmoun added.

“There are always rumors in the transfer market but at the moment I’m focused on Rostov, at the end of the season we will see what happens,” the 21-year-old striker added.

The draw for the third round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification, where the 12 teams will be split into two groups and the top two from each advance to Russia 2018, will take place on April 12th.
