Iranian players Dejagah and Nekounam set to leave Al Arabi
Tehran Times – DOHA, After recent changes in the board of Qatar Stars League side Al Arabi, the club’s new president is set to part company with Italian coach Gianfranco Zola and three foreign players including Ashkan Dejagah and Javad Nekounam.
“Zola is not a popular figure among the fans anymore and we’re looking for a famous new coach. Al Arabi has four foreign players and we’re going to keep one who is Brazilian striker Paulinho,” Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad told reporters.
Nekounam’s six month contract has expired with Al Arabi while Dejagah has still two years left on his contract with the club.
Dejagah, who has previously played for Hertha Berlin, Wolfsburg and Fulham, made a shock move in July 2014 to join Al Arabi. He has scored 9 goals in 45 appearances over the last two seasons for Al Arabi.
