Tehran Times – TEHRAN, The Iranian football federation has announced the appointment of Abbas Chamanian as the new head coach of country’s U-17 team on Tuesday.

Chamanian replaced Hamid Alidoosti who was sacked following the team’s poor results.
The 53-year old coach has previously worked in Payam Mashhad football club and has good knowledge of youth football.

The Iranian team is preparing for the 2016 AFC Championship which will be held in India from September 15 to October 2.

The tournament acts as the AFC qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
