“I was looking for a new challenge”: Machine Sazi’s Manuel Muniz

Tehran Times – TABRIZ, Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Fernandez Muniz has been impressed by the way how Machine Sazi fans have greeted him at Tabriz airport.
“I wasn’t expecting such a fantastic welcome by the fans at the airport. I hope I could make these fans happy with my performance into custody. I know Machine Sazi is one the oldest clubs in Iran and has a lot of passionate fans,” Muniz told reporters.
“I was looking for a new challenge in my career and as I’ve never played outside of Spain before, I accepted Machine Sazi’s offer,” he added.
“I didn’t know so much about Iranian football before I came here, I just knew Javad Nekounam who has played in La Liga,” he added.
The 30-year old keeper who has previously played for Sporting Gijon, Recreativo, Alcaron and Alaves made eight appearances for Deportivo last season.
