Loading...Tasnim – TABRIZ, Persepolis football team edged past Gostaresh Foolad to move top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Saturday.
Vahid Amiri scored an early second half goal in Tabriz’s Bonyan Diesel Stadium for the visiting team.
“I congratulate my players because we deserved to win this match. We could have scored another one but I am so happy because it was an important victory for us,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said.
Saba was held to a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Machine Sazi, Sepahan defeated title holder Esteghlal Khuzestan 3-1 and Naft Tehran downed Padideh 3-0.
Persepolis moved top of the table with seven points.
Sepahan is second with six points and Machine Sazi moved to third place with five points.
