Tasnim – GOA, Iran lost to Iraq in the AFC U-16 Championship final match with a 4-3 penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

With no extra time at the AFC U-16 competition the game went to penalties and the Iranian team failed to win the title.

Iran had already booked a place FIFA U-17 World Cup after advancing to the competition’s semi-final.

The 17-day tournament brought a total of 16 teams together in Goa, India.

Iran defeated Saudi Arabia (3-2), India (3-0), Vietnam (5-0) and North Korea (6-5 penalties), drew with the UAE (1-1) and lost to Iraq (4-3 penalties) in the competition.
