IPL: Sepahan hold by Esteghlal, Tractor edges past Naft [VIDEO]

Loading...Tehran Times – ISFAHAN, Sepahan football team was held to a 1-1 draw against Esteghlal in the 15th week of Iran professional League (IPL) in front of more than 30,000 fans at Isfahan’s newly renovated Naqsh-e Jahan stadium on Sunday.
Jalaleddin Alimohammadi put the host in front in the 70th minute with a rocket shot inside the box. In the final ten minutes Esteghlal put pressure on Sepahan defense to get back on level terms. In the second minute of stoppage time Behnam Barzay put the ball into the back of the net with a wonderful header from a cross by Kaveh Rezaei.
Esteghlal and Sepahan finished the first half of the season in 7th and 8th place respectively with 22 points.
Elsewhere in Tehran, Tractor Sazi beat Naft Tehran 2-0 thanks to goals from Mehdi Sharifi (63) and Mohammad Nouri (72). Tractor is now just two points behind league leader Persepolis.
Machine Sazi vs. Saipa clash which was schedule to be held in Tabriz on Sunday was postponed due to bad weather condition.
