Tasnim – TEHRAN, Shahab Karami has joined Iranian Persepolis football team on Sunday.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has penned an 18-month contract with the Iranian top-flight team.

He replaced Ahmad Nourollahi who joined Tractor Sazi in the January transfer window.

Karami started his playing career at Petrochimi Tabriz in 2009 and has also played at Mes Sarcheshmeh, Shahrdari Yasuj, Malavan and Foolad.

With 10 weeks remaining, Persepolis is favorite to win Iran Professional League and remains nine points clear of second-place Tractor Sazi at the top of the table.

Persepolis will also represent Iran in the AFC Champions League, where the powerhouse tram has been drawn with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Qatari Al Rayyan in Group D.
