Tasnim – DOHA, Iranian national football team’s head coach Carlos Queiroz says that they are going to secure back-to-back World Cup qualification.

Team Melli will look to at least maintain its one-point lead over Korea Republic when the team takes on Qatar in the Russia 2018 Asian Qualifier on Thursday.

Carlos Queiroz’s side is the only unbeaten team in Group A.

“Iran is going to book a place in the World Cup for the second successive time but we know we have an uphill task ahead of us. Qatar is a strong team and play at home in front of its fans,” Queiroz said in the pre-match news conference.

“We have basic rules in football in which if you score more goals you will win the match but we have a rule as well the better team will not win the match always,” the Portuguese added.

“Iran has come to Doha to win the match and we know Qatar is going to want three points as well,” former Real Madrid coach said.

“As I’ve already said, I want to congratulate the Qataris due to bringing World Cup to Asia once again,” Queiroz concluded.
