AFC Futsal Championship 2018: Road to the Semi-finals – Iran

AFC – TAIPEI, Reigning champions the Islamic Republic of Iran are on the brink of another title to add to their trophy cabinet. Joining them in the semi-finals are Uzbekistan, Japan, and Iraq.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has breezed through the competition, netting 39 goals in the process as they home in on their 12th title. The Iranians overpowered Myanmar 14-0 in Group C to kick-start their campaign and followed that up with an 11-1 victory against China PR. Mohammad Nazemosharia’s side, however, received some resistance from Iraq in their final group match but picked up a gear to win 5-3. Technically gifted and with a 100 percent record in the tournament, their convincing 9-1 victory over ASEAN powerhouse Thailand in the quarter-finals only proves that they are in a class of their own.
