PGPL: Esteghlal draw Gostaresh Foolad, Persepolis held at Azadi [VIDEO]

Loading...Tasnim – TABRIZ, Iranian popular football teams Esteghlal and Persepolis were held to a draw in the Persian Gulf Professional League (PGPL) on Wednesday.
Esteghlal drew 1-1 with Gostaresh Foolad in Tabriz. Ali Ghorbani scored for the visiting team just 11 minutes into the match.
Gostaresh Foolad dominated the second half and equalized the match before the hour mark. Alireza Khaleghifar found the back of the net with a shot inside the box.
Esteghlal moved provisionally up to second place in PGPL table.
Persepolis was also held to a 1-1 draw against Pars Janoubi in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Ebrahim Salahi scored from a tough angle in the 67th minute.
Persepolis, who won the domestic league title for the 11th time on Sunday, created many chances to equalize in the match.
In the dying moments of the match, substitute Kamal Kamyabinia levelled the scoreline.
Persepolis leads the table with 61 points, 13 points clear of Esteghlal.
