HITC – GLASGOW, Everton are reportedly keen on Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun.

Everton are likely to be in the market for new signings this summer, and new links suggest a striker is on their radar ahead of the transfer window opening once again.

The Sunday People (April 22nd, page 48) reported that Everton are one of a host of clubs interested in landing Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, with Celtic and Wolves also touted.

Everton did splash the cash on Cenk Tosun in January, but with question marks over the future of Oumar Niasse, it would be little surprise to see the Toffees add another forward this summer.

Fans may be hoping for a more glamorous name than Azmoun, but links are little surprise given how many key decision makers at Goodison Park love the Rubin Kazan ace.

Everton are poised to land PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands, and he was overseeing a potential move to land Azmoun from Rostov in 2016, as the striker himself admitted to The Express that PSV were one option for him.

Additionally, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is thought to be keen, with the Daily Record recently carrying quotes from Rubin Kazan boss Kurban Berdyev which stated that Moshiri came to him personally to negotiate a deal.

Iranian international Azmoun, 23, has only hit four goals for Rubin Kazan this season, but Moshiri – of Iranian descent – will be well aware of the striker’s quality, and with Brands also a fan, an Everton bid for the player once dubbed as ‘the Iranian Messi’ may seem somewhat inevitable as the pair seemingly attempt to finally land the striker.
