IPL: Zob Ahan become runners-up, Esteghlal finishes 3rd [VIDEO]
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Zob Ahan football team finished in second place in the 2018 Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday.
The Isfahan based team edged past Naft Tehran 1-0 in Tehran’s Takhti Stadium.
Zob Ahan Brazilian striker Kiros Stanlley Soares Ferraz scored the winner in the 28th minute.
Also, Esteghlal beat Sepahan 1-0 in Isfahan and came third.
Mame Baba Thiam was on target for Esteghlal in 11th minute.
Saipa finished fourth after beating Paykan 2-1 in Shahre-Qods Stadium.
Mehdi Torabi opened the scoring in the 4th minute from the penalty spot and Reza Asadi made it 2-0 in the 26th minute.
Sadegh Barani pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 65th minute.
Furthermore, Gostaresh Foolad and Padideh played out a goalless draw, Siahjamegan lost to Pars Jonoubi 1-0, Tractor Sazi defeated Foolad 1-0 in Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium and Sanat Naft Abadan drew 3-3 with Esteghlal Khuzestan.
Persepolis, who had claimed the IPL title with three weeks remaining, defeated Sepidrood 3-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
The Reds lifted their trophy at the end of the match.
