IPL 2017-18 Season in numbers
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Persepolis football team claimed the title of 17th edition of the Iran Professional League (IPL) for the second successive year.
Branko Ivankovic’s team lifted the championship trophy on Friday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Zob Ahan finished in second place and Esteghlal came third.
Siahjamegan and Naft Tehran were relegated from the IPL.

Persepolis won the title with 64 points with three weeks to spare.
Persepolis won the most games with 19 victories and Siahjamegan won the fewest games with two wins.
Pars Jonoubi registered the most draws with 14 games ending in draws and Sepidrood registered the fewest draws with six.
Siahjamegan suffered 19 losses and Persepolis registered the fewest losses with just four games.
Persepolis scored the most goals in Season 2017-18, finding the net 48 times. Zob Ahan totaled 46 goals.
Siahjamegan scored the fewest goals in the Season, scoring 17 goals.
Persepolis had the best defensive record of this season, conceding just 15 goals. Persepolis arch-rivals Esteghlal conceded 18 goals.
Siahjamegan had the worst defensive record. The Mashhad-based football team conceded 48 goals.
Persepolis striker Ali Alipour was named the IPL’s top scorer with 19 goals.
A total of 512 goals were scored in this season.
The Iran Pro League is the highest division of professional football in Iran.
The league was also known as the Persian Gulf Cup from 2006 until 2014. It is the top-level football league in Iran since its foundation in 2001. Each year, the top finishing team in the Persian Gulf Pro League becomes the Iranian football champion, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to Azadegan League.
