Yes, despite only managing a 1-1 draw with Portugal, Iran’s players and fans may be disappointed … They could have won this game!
That final chance late in the game could have sent Portugal out and Iran through to the Round of 16 – but it wasn’t to be.
Although the VAR gifted them a penalty to bring them level, they gave Portugal a great contest throughout.
They’ve been a joy to watch – Great support, plenty of drama and some decent football.
