Asian Games 2018: Team Melli Omid to face China PR in final tune-up
AFC – TEHRAN, Islamic Republic of Iran’s Under-23 men’s team will wind up their preparations for the 2018 Asian Games Indonesia with a friendly against China on August 9.
The four-time champions are in Group F at the 2018 Asian Games together with 2014 silver medallists DPR Korea, Saudi Arabia and Myanmar.
Head coach Zlatko Kranjcar has named his 20-man squad as IR Iran seek to win their first gold medal since last emerging champions in 2002.
IR Iran’s previous triumphs were in 1998, 1990 and 1974.
IR Iran open their campaign against Saudi Arabia on August 15, before playing DPR Korea two days later. They complete their group stage campaign against Myanmar on August 20.
Men’s football will be contested on August 14 to September 1 in Jakarta and Palembang.
