Southampton can kill two birds with one stone by signing Man City target Ghoddos

Loading...Football Fancast – SOUTHAMPTON, According to reports in The Sun, Manchester City are tracking highly-rated Ostersunds attacker Saman Ghoddos following an impressive last 18 months, and their Premier League rivals Southampton must look to hijack any potential move.
Well, The Sun says that Pep Guardiola had the Iran international, who came off of the substitutes’ bench in all three of his country’s 2018 World Cup group games, watched last weekend as he helped his team beat Elfsborg 1-0.
The versatile attacker, who can play as a No.10, out wide or as a centre-forward, shone for the Swedish outfit in the Europa League last term as they reached the last-32 before being knocked out by Arsenal, and he currently has 10 goals and three assists in 20 club appearances in 2018.
The 24-year-old has 40 goals and 24 assists in 91 outings for Ostersunds in total, and should he arrive at the Etihad he would likely be competing with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling for a spot in the starting XI.
Why must Southampton hijack any deal?
Well, Saints have strengthened their frontline with the addition of Basel’s Mohamed Elyounoussi, but having seen both Dusan Tadic and Guido Carrillo leave they surely need at least one more attacking body in given they only scored 37 goals in their 38 Premier League matches last term.
They certainly need that spark in terms of goals and assists in the final third, and while some supporters of the south coast believe they need both a striker and a wide player, signing the versatile Ghoddos would allow them to kill two birds with one stone.
The Iran international has shown the quality that he has, and he could be another gem of a signing for Southampton, whose fans have been discussing a potential move for a Tottenham attacker on Twitter, with one saying he “reminds me of James Beattie”.
