ScoreNigeria – TEHRAN, Former U20 international striker Alhaji Gero has admitted to SCORENigeria he could not resist a transfer from Europe to Iran because of the worth of the deal.
In August, Alhaji Gero, 24, quit Swedish club Ostersunds FK to sign a three-year contract with Iranian club Esteghlal.

He revealed to SCORENigeria he had bids from several clubs in Europe, but still chose to move to Iran.

“Esteghlal gave me a good contract that I could not say no to,” he said.

“Also, I had like four good clubs in Europe after me, but I just wanted to try something new because I have made a name for myself in Europe and so my name will always be on the list of clubs there.

“Right now I’m just enjoying Iran and football.”

The former Enugu Rangers striker has already secured Swedish nationality and so a return to Europe at some point cannot be completely ruled out.
