Iran crowned IFCPF Asia-Oceania champions
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran defeated Australia 7-0 to win the 2018 IFCPF (International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football) Asia-Oceania Championship on Thursday.
Rasoul Atashafrouz made a hat-trick and Abbas Torabi scored a brace for the Iranian team.
Abdorreza Karimizadeh and Farzad Mehri scored one goal each.
Iran captain Karimizadeh was named as the competition’s top goalscorer with 13 goals.
Earlier in the day, Jordan had defeated Thailand 8-2 and finished in third place.
South Korea also came last with four losses.
Iran and Australia qualified for the 2019 IFCPF World Cup in Pinto Madrid, Spain as top two teams.
IFCPF became the official IF for cerebral palsy football following the sport realizing its independence from January 1 in 2015, after 37 years, from the Cerebral Palsy International Sport and Recreation Association.
