The Peninsula – DOHA, Qatar will feature in a four-nation international event this month in an attempt to prep up for the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers to be played in March.

The tournament – for Olympic squads – will be played from January 15-21, Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced yesterday.

The participating teams are Qatar, Iran, Kuwait and Tajikistan.

The tournament will be played at Aspire Academy. On January 15, Qatar will face Kuwait while Iran take on Tajikistan.

On the second match-day on January 18, Iran face Kuwait while Tajikistan battle Qatar.

The Qatar squad is expected to feature on more matches in the coming weeks, QFA said.

Doha will host the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers from March 22-26 March with the participation of Oman, Nepal and Afghanistan besides the home side.
