Sky Sports – WOLVERHAMPTON, Wolves are in talks to sign Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, Sky Sports News understands.

The Premier League club are discussing a £1.75m loan fee for the remainder of the campaign, plus £11.4m buying option with the Russian outfit.

Kazan will agree to the above conditions but want an obligation to buy, while Wolves want the option to buy the 24-year-old.

Dubbed the ‘Iranian Messi’ in his homeland, Azmoun was the poster boy of Iran’s World Cup squad last year.

Iran finished third in their group with four points, just one point behind both Spain and Portugal, to record their best-ever performance at a World Cup.

Earlier this month, Azmoun scored four times during the nation’s run to the Asian Cup semi-finals, where they lost to Japan on Monday.

Azmoun first joined Kazan in 2013, and returned to the club in 2017 after a two-year spell at Rostov, the first season being on loan.
