Bangladesh friendly with Iran to not go ahead due to scheduling issues

Loading...Dhaka Tribune – DHAKA, Bangladesh National Team head coach Jamie Day seemed to be content not to play against the top-ranked Asian country.
The Bangladesh Football Federation is searching new opponents for playing at least one friendly match before kicking off their 2022 World Cup qualifiers’ group campaign in September after their previously planned friendly with Iran was cancelled.
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said, “It is now confirmed that we are not going to play a friendly against Iran as the two federations couldn’t match a common schedule. We are now looking for new available options.”
National team head coach Jamie Day seemed to be content not to play against the top-ranked Asian country.
“They are ranked 20th in the world while we still want to try to progress in ranking. We (ranked 182th) will also want to try to get Fifa points so if all our games are against strong teams and we can’t beat them we won’t move up but down.”
Informing that the national team training camp is set to start at the end of August, the English coach added, “We are seeing who is available, whether it’s an international game against a team who are ranked around us or against a club team, but it depends on where we camp.”
