Allahyar Sayyadmanesh hands Hull City major fitness boost for West Brom clash
Hulldailymail.co.uk – HULL, The 21-year-old has missed much of the season through injury.
Hull City have been handed a significant boost as they look to end their four-game winless run against West Bromwich Albion at the MKM Stadium on Friday evening.
City will welcome influential winger Allahyar Sayyadmanesh after recovering from his latest hamstring injury which has seen him miss the best part of two months, though the Tigers will be without a number of key performers with Liam Rosenior describing the situation as ‘not good’.
The Iranian ace returned to action for the Tigers’ Under-21 side on Monday night bagging a goal after just 16 minutes amid a planned 45-minute cameo showing, and has now been declared fit to be involved off the bench against the Baggies.
Allahyar, who missed four months of the season with a hamstring issue earlier in the campaign, has been sidelined since the thumping 4-1 win at Wigan Athletic on January 2, when he limped off just before half-time.
News of his return to the squad is welcome news for head coach Rosenior, who will still be without a number of key figures for the visit of Albion, and there are fresh concerns over reliable right-back Cyrus Christie, with the Irishman rated as 50/50 to be involved.
City will certainly be without Matt Ingram, Jean Michael Seri, Ryan Woods, Dimitrios Pelkas, and Aaron Connolly for the Friday night game under the lights in front of the television cameras.
“Yes, he’s back,” the City boss beamed. “He got himself a goal (in the Under-21s) which is a real positive for us and he’ll be involved for sure in part of the squad and we’ll see how we use him come Friday.”
“It’s not good, it could be better” Rosenior said of the club’s current injury plight. “Matty Ingram’s out, Woodsy, Mika, Aaron Connolly and Cyrus Christie is touch and go, he’s had some swelling on his knee.
“Dimi’s not in contention for Friday, we need to make sure he’s in contention for Coventry (next Saturday). It’s his groin, and it’s a case of his loading. The physical markers that he needs to pass, he hasn’t quite passed yet.
“I will not risk another player. Dimi’s in a really good place and he’s going to be fit, ready and flying for Coventry, he just needs the right amount of training to put him out of the risk area if you bring someone back too soon.
“We’ve got a lot at the moment and we need to get through it, but what I’ve said all along is I wanted a squad and it’s time for the squad to step up to the plate.
