sepahan_fanPTV – ESFAHAN, Sepahan has retained its safe lead over its nearest rivals in Iran’s Premier League despite losing to Steel Azin as Saba comes from one goal behind to beat Esteghlal at home.

Late goals from Mohammad Gholami and Reza Norouzi helped Steel Azin beat Sepahan 2-1 at home.

Zob Ahan had the chance of closing in on Sepahan with only four games left to the IPL’s end, but was held to a 2-2 draw against Peykan to remain in second place with 54 points, five points behind Sepahan.

Persepolis, which lost 2-0 to Saipa on Saturday, remained in third place with 50 points, one point clear of Esteqlal, which lost 2-1 to Saba.

Arash Borhani put Esteghlal ahead in the 33rd minute, but Jaber Ansari equalized the match 30 minutes after the break, before Diego Jose Clementino’s injury-time penalty sealed Saba’s home victory.

The match between Abumoslem and Teraktorsazi was left unfinished after Teraktorsazi players left the field in the second half in protest to a Saturday decision by the IPL organizers to select another referee for the match.
