Sepahan wins IPL title
MNA – ESFAHAN, Sepahan of Isfahan claimed the title of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Thursday.
Sepahan defeated Paykan 2-1 in Isfahan and sealed the championship title for the second time.
Ibrahim Tore scored a brace in Sepahan’s penultimate game of the season. Alireza Abbasfard scored Paykan’s sole goal.
Esteghlal moved up to the IPL second place when Farhad Majidi scored in injury time against Rah Ahan at the Azadi Stadium.
Zob Ahan was held to a 1-1 draw by Foolad of Khuzestan. The team dropped to third due to goal difference.
Persepolis was beaten 3-1 by the relegated Abu Moslem to suffer its seventh loss of the season.
Steel Azin missed the chance to jump to fourth place when it was held to a 1-1 draw against Mes of Kerman in Tehran.
Elsewhere, Saipa defeated Pas of Hamedan 3-0, Saba Battery beat Malavan 3-1, Teraktorsazi of Tabriz seized a 2-1 victory over relegated Esteghlal of Ahvaz, and finally, Shahin of Bushehr overpowered Moghavemat of Sepasi 1-0.
