Sky SportsSheffield United are reportedly set to offer Iran international Andranik Teymourian a trial stint with the club.

Teymourian has spent time training with Blackburn this summer but recently turned down the chance to join the Premier League club on their tour to Australia.

Currently a free agent after leaving Fulham, he stayed in Britain to pursue other options. Teymourian has been linked with clubs in Qatar, Iran and the United Arab Emirates but now looks set to be given the opportunity to earn a deal with Sheffield United.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has had a busy summer looking at a number of potential signings and is eager to add to the recent additions of Nyron Nosworthy, Rob Kozluk and Simon Walton.

Walton is set to miss the entire season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury and Teymourian’s possible arrival could help fill the void.

Teymourian is believed to have been recommended by United coach Gary Speed, who played with the 27-year-old midfielder during their days at Bolton.
