Esteghlal and Steel draw, Zob Ahan take lead [VIDEO]

AFC – ESFAHAN, AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Zob Ahan continued their fine show in the domestic league when they outclassed Saipa 2-0 to go atop the standings on Saturday.

Mansour Ebrahimzadeh’s will host defending Asian champions Korea Republic’s Pohang Steelers in the first leg of their ACL quarter-finals on September 15 before travelling to Pohang for the return leg a week later.

Igor Castro opened the scoring for Zob Ahan in the 12th minute and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini Farimani doubled the advantage three minutes before the break.

Zob Ahan are on 10 points after four games, one more than Sanat Naft who will face Persepolis on Sunday.

Tehran’s popular outfit Esteghlal were held to a 2-2 draw by Steel Azin. Mohammad Gholami scored a brace for Steel Azin while Farhad Majidi and Mojtaba Jabbari were on target for Esteghlal.

In other matches, Teraktor lost to Pas 1-0, Peykan played a 1-1 draw with Malavan, Sepahan edged past Shahin 1-0, Saba Battery thrashed Rah Ahan 5-2, Naft Tehran lost to Foolad 3-0 and Mes brushed aside Shahrdari 5-2.
