hajsafisepsmallPFDC – TEHRAN, Thanks to a second half comeback, ‘Team Omid’ won a friendly match against Syria’s Olympic team squad 2-1 in Tehran on Friday.

Being a goal down at halftime, Iran came back thanks to an Ehsan Hajsafi penalty kick and a Milad Fakhreddini goal. Iranian referee Ghahremani also sent a Syrian player off and awarded another penalty kick to Iran, which was missed by Arash Afshin.

Beside the injured Karim Ansarifard, Persepolis’ Hamidreza Aliasgari and Malavan’s Mohsen Mosalman and Mehdi Daghaghele were missing due to their participation in the Iranian Cup final.

Alireza Mansourian’s men will face Iraq in a two legged playoff for reaching the third stage of Olympic qualification.

The first leg will be played in Arbil on June 19, four days before the return leg in Tehran.
