MNA – TEHRAN, Majlis on Tuesday overwhelmingly voted against Hamid Sajjadi, the nominee for the post of sports and youth minister.

Out of 247 votes cast, 137 voted against, 87 for, and 23 abstained.

Hamid Sajjadi, the deputy director of Physical Education Organization (PEO), took part in Barcelona 1992 Olympic and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.

The 42-year-old has participated three times in the Asian Games and he claimed a silver medal in the 3000-meter Steeplechase in 1998 Asian Games held in Bangkok, Thailand.

In January, Majlis voted for the establishment of the Sports and Youth Ministry.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last week named Sajjadi for the post by sending a letter to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.

However, in his letter Ahmadinejad expressed his objections about the establishment of the ministry. The content of the letter made lawmakers furious.
